Summer found, as a child, she wanted
nothing more than to be a damsel in distress. A great opportunity
for clown, these old practices of stereotype and sexism, yearning
and heartbreak have followed her from childhood to womanhood. In
Summer's work she presents the opportunity for disillusionment and
a freedom of choice outside our transparent, and often self-perpetuated,
limitations. In her most recent projects, The Medea Project; Theater
For Incarcerated Women (dir Rhodessa Jones, Lorraine Hansberrry Theatre
2006) and Angry Gods and Lost Marbles (dir. Paoli Lacy, Women on
The Way Festival 2007), truth and disillusionment have been at the
forefront of Summer's work. Both Summer and Suzanne have extensive
training in clown, theatre, physical comedy and movement. Summer
sees her work with Suzanne as the perfect collaboration in truly
making this work live. |
