Lamia Jamal Al-Talabany, Baghdad, Iraq and Jordan
From Early childhood, I have always had an intense desire to create things visually, starting hundreds of dolls in different media. As I have grown up and nurtured this desire, my work has evolved to a point where I hope to be able to touch the feelings of spectators where ever they are, so that they help and support humanity, a humanity full of compassion and respect for others. In my works I send messages to all women of the world of different races and religion, to work together and fight for a better and safer world for generations to come.

Dhikra Sarsam, painting, Baghdad, Iraq
Painting is my way to express what I want to say, the time where I found myself free without any kind of chain and where there is nobody to tell me what to do or what not to do. My paintings are difficult to be understand by others. They reflect my real personality. There is a kind of attraction in my paintings which make others like them but they don't know why. This is a message which I like to pass to others. Is is just like pure beauty which presents the Art for Art method.

Ban Kubba, painting, Baghdad, Iraq
“…..She could represent most of the visible senses through the faces of her paintings which varied between women, society, and environment. She reminds us of the clear taste of reality without sharing it the analogical depth that might take huge part of the painting’s theme. She formed her own vision by the general receiving of the clever merging between them both, by framing it with the beauty of her colors” Al-Feeniq Magazine

Judith Sandoval, community organizer, photographer, San Francisco
Bearing a gift of magic and whimsy from my mother, a gift of war and activism from my father, and a zoom-lens camera, I seek to listen, understand and momentarily capture untold stories. Stories hidden in the walls of urban penumbras, only illuminated by angular shafts of light and scattered faery dust. But these gifts-of-story are returned to the storytellers as a ritual offering, to acknowledge, honor and celebrate their stories of beauty, inner strength, healing, and community.
